SHOOBIE BLACKSOCKS FACTS
Shoobie BlackSocks Picture History
Shoobie Blacksocks is a band that has undergone several transformations in the past decade. With a shifting line up, and ever changing repertoire, Shoobie still maintains the spirit that has been present since it all began.
Shoobie's beginnings can be traced back to Hawaii more than a decade ago. There Jon Hoffman, the lead vocalist and guitarist and Sam Lubachevsky the bass player in the current line up and the drummer in the original band had started a band that faintly resembled what we know as Shoobie BlackSocks today. After many changes in the line up, and after moving back to the east coast, Shoobie Blacksocks was officially formed. The addition of Ken Kunich, as Shoobie's lead guitarist and Johnny D on bass made SBS official. Playing much of the same music that was originally written in Hawaii, the band had played clubs, bars and parties during the late nineties. After taking a break, Shoobie emerged in 2003 as an acoustic trio, which has opened up new musical avenues for the band. Recently (January 2005), a new member joined the band - Taps Nugeye to give the band a percussive edge.
Shoobie Blacksocks plays a mix of original and cover music in an acoustic
setting. Shoobie's sound is a mix of Rock/Blues/Reggae/Ska/Folk/Hawaiian
Style. This is a sound that is best understood when it is heard firsthand from
Shoobie live with a cold beverage in hand.
